<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Of course you did.it's just a simple hand foot combination played with an attitude. i thought vinnie's fills with QL were a lot more tasteful.
I have Vinnie playing some gospel stuff and i don't care how many more chops Vinnie has than these "gospel cats", they have the attitude and the approach... i have Vinnie playing some live gospel/worship music, but guess what?...Doesn't sound as good cause, sorry Vin, it isn't his bag; he hasn't grown up in it so he just doesn't nail it the same way.
Truth.

usher sure can give michael a run for his money!!
hey matricks, which recording are you referring to? i've only heard the ron kenoly album and he just kills on there. one of my favorites of ALL vinnie recordings actually. although ron kenoly isn't really gospel. let me know if you know of any other ones. thanks.
Thats amazing, I think i might be in love [img]graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
well, maybe not.
The power of 'going for it'.
Vinnie's done quite a few Christian things that COULD be considered gospel (i.e. Take 6), but really, nothing like Edwin Hawkins, Edgar O'Neal, or Hezekiah Walker. Ron Kenoly is pretty 'white' and nothing he does is really what i would call "gospel", however, use that tune "Mighty God" on the Live CD as an example, the feel just doesn't cut it for me. It is in the gospel vein, that is what they are going after. However, it doesn't cut it. It doesn't. It's good, but just doesn't cut it. The 'bounce' isn't there. Also, there is a rigidity to gospel drumming and Vinnie smoothes it out too much. When i hear gospel drumming, it could be like a bowling ball falling down a flight of stairs... Vinnie makes it sound like a magic carpet ride down the stairs.
For the song i am referring to (and tear me a new one for referring to a single song and don't have 20 examples) but i've heard that song played many times by many different people and when it is played but a 'true' gospel drummer, the bounce is there... with Vin it ain't... sorry.
Hey, it's cool, he can't do everything and hell, he is more versatile than any of those guys i am sure, but the truth is the truth. But if Vinnie were to prove me wrong and throw down, then i will be the first to admit it... i just haven't heard it.
Love ya Vinnie!

I am hooked on the Urr-sher concert that they keep showing on MTV2... damn, they all work for that money.
And as for Michael, he never used the Wheelie shoes like Urr-sher does... so i gotta give Urr-sher the gold star for that one
<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Did anyone notice the "Lost in Space" theme (as in "Danger Will Robinson"), covered about 1/2 way through that tune?Originally posted by matricks:
I just listened to the live version of "You Make Me Wanna"... ho-lee-sheit!!! Ok, that just burned, f*ckin' burned! I am a sucka for live, tight, pop music and that f*ckin' hit me over the head... spanked my ass!
Anyway, solid drumming but the music does nothing for me.
